World Junior Championship

Finland 2 - Sweden 1

As the games go further, the pressure increases. One can argue that Mikko Rantanen has had a subpar tournament thus far for the Finns, but the team captain stepped up his game; recording the primary assist on both goals for Team Finland. Sweden, who was arguably the team who had played the best in the tournament up to this point, had 26 shots on goal, but was unable to build on an early one goal lead.

Russia 2 - United States 1

Try as they might, the Americans seem to fizzle when they play the Russians in this tournament. Despite a solid opening period in which they had a one goal lead, they were unable to capitalize on any further opportunities. Russia, who always seems to be an enigma in this tournament remained calm in their comeback against Team USA. This despite the fact they were unable to convert on a 5-on-3 chance in the second period. Sergei Boikov was even and had one shot in the game for Team Russia.
