OHL Award Finalists Announced

The OHL announced its 2014-15 award finalists on Wednesday. Among those honored was Owen Sound defenseman Chris Bigras and Mississauga goaltender Spencer Martin.

Bigras was named a finalist for defenseman of the year (Max Kaminsky Trophy). Spencer Martin, who missed half the season with Mississauga, nabbed one of the finalist nods for goaltender of the year.

The winners will be announced through the duration of the 2015 OHL Playoffs. A complete list of finalists is available at the OHL official website. Those listed include former Avalanche draft pick, and now New Jersey Devils prospect, Joseph Blandisi. Blandisi was unsigned by the Avalanche last spring and returned to the OHL for his overage year. It has proved to be a fruitful one as he has been named a finalist for the Overage Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player of the Year.

Draft in Hepple's Hands

Patrick Roy's weekly radio interview on KKFN 104.3 The Fan in Denver is a must listen for any Avalanche fan. Recently, Roy disparaged former Avalanche chief scout Rick Pracey on his drafting decisions. Roy reiterated those concerns on today's broadcast and while a replacement for Pracey has yet to be officially named, Roy indicated that Alan Hepple, Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting, would be running this year's draft for the Avalanche.
