Lake Erie trips up Syracuse in overtime 5-4. Bill Thomas opened the scoring with his 22nd tally of the season. By the midway point of the second period, the Monsters were down 2-1. Mike Connolly (9) and Tomas Vincour (15) helped to reclaim the lead for Lake Erie in the second frame.
Vincour would come to the Monsters rescue again, in the third period, to tie the contest at four. Luke Walker (10) won the game for the Monsters at the 2:49 mark of the overtime session. Kent Patterson made 25 saves.
Western Conference Semifinals -- Game 3 -- Series tied at one
Plymouth doubles up Owen Sound 6-3. The Whalers struck three times in the second period. One of those goals was scored by Garrett Meurs, who now has five playoff markers. Meurs also had a power play assist in the game. Mitch Heard had a power play goal and power play assist himself. Four of the goals for the Whalers were on the man advantage. Meurs was named the third star of the game. Plymouth has a 2-1 lead in the series.
Quarter-Final -- Game 3 -- Series tied at one
Quebec falls to Rouyn-Noranda 5-2. The Huskies had a dominating third period with four goals. Dillon Donnelly was plus one for the Remparts. He was involved in a fighting incident in the third period. His club struggled on the power play, going 0-9. Sven Andrighetto had a goal and two assists for Rouyn-Noranda.
Eastern Conference Semifinals -- Game 3 -- 2-0 Edmonton
Edmonton hammers Medicine Hat 9-2; takes a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. The Oil Kings dominated in shots 57-27. Trevor Cheek notched his fourth goal of the post-season in the final period. He also had a busy night in the penalty box with kneeing, interference, and high-sticking infractions. Henrik Samuelsson, Michael St. Croix, and Martin Gernat each scored twice for the triumphant Oil Kings.
