Dedham’s Gus Young a Steady Presence on Blue Line for Yale

Gus Young is no stranger to the Ivy League. His father, Kevin, was a three-sport athlete at Dartmouth: a standout 5-foot-10, 195-pound linebacker, he was also Ivy heavyweight wrestling champion in 1975 in addition to playing lacrosse. His older brother, Seamus , played hockey at Princeton in 2006, before turning pro. A younger brother, Colin , is suiting up for perennial Division 3 power Babson.

A Noble & Greenough School graduate, Young opted for Yale over Dartmouth, partly due to the multimillion-dollar renovation of Ingalls Rink in New Haven, which was completed in 2010. His college hockey career, however, did not start out the way he envisioned.
