Lake Erie falls to Rochester 4-2. The Monsters overcame a two goal deficit before the Americans pulled ahead for good. Rochester garnered an early lead on the Monsters just 11 seconds into the contest. Former Av Kevin Porter gave the Americans a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.
Mark Olver (4) notched a power play marker in the second frame to get the Monsters on the board. Paul Carey (4) evened the contest at two in the later stages of the period. However, Mike Zigomanis gave the Americans a 3-2 lead with 29 seconds remaining in the second.
Lake Erie could not find the back of the net in the final period and were held to 18 shots in the game. Rochester sealed the game with a penalty shot goal with eight seconds left in regulation. Sami Aittokallio made 27 saves.
Denver loses to cellar dweller St. Charles 3-1. Jean-Philipp Chabot had the lone marker for the Cutthroats in the first period. Kieran Millan stopped 32 shots in the loss. St. Charles was 0-4 on the power play.
Erie dismantles Mississauga 9-1. The Otters stormed out to a fast start with six first period goals. Spencer Martin was pulled at the end of the second period after giving up all nine goals on 27 shots. Brendan Gaunce, Dane Fox, and Michael Curtis each scored twice for Erie.
Ferris State and Michigan skate to a 2-2 tie. Michigan wins the shoot-out in seven rounds 2-1. Luke Moffatt had one shot during regulation. He did not convert on his opportunity in the shoot-out. Alex Guptill and Andrew Copp had the regulation goals for the Wolverines.
