In their second of two games, Lake Erie edges Abbotsford 3-2. After allowing a goal 31 seconds into the contest, Stefan Elliott tied the game with a power play tally in the first period. Brad Malone notched his second goal of the season, also on the power play.
After the Heat tied the game in the second period, Elliott was credited with the game winning marker past the midway point of the third. Elliott, who also had an assist on Malone's goal, was named the first star of the game.
Calvin Pickard made 29 saves in the game. Bryan Lerg and Malone were named second and third stars of the game respectively. Lerg had two helpers in the contest.
Owen Sound doubles up Kitchener 4-2. Radek Faksa had both markers for the Rangers. Chris Bigras assisted on a power play tally for the Attack in the second period. He was penalized for holding in the opening frame. The Rangers power play came up empty on six opportunities.
Moose Jaw trims Vancouver 2-1. Mason Geertsen was minus one for the Giants. He was called for a cross-checking minor late in the second period. Zachary Sawchenko stopped 28 shots for the Warriors.
Prince George blanks Kamloops 3-0. Ty Edmonds made 27 saves for the victorious Cougars. Troy Bourke was even for the game. The Cougars finished 1-5 on the power play.
Minnesota throttles Lethbridge 5-1. Nate Condon was held without a point and had three shots in the game. Five different players scored for the Gophers. Minnesota is set to begin their first season in the Big Ten Conference for hockey.
