Lake Erie drops their regular season opener to Abbotsford 5-2. Bryan Lerg gave the Monsters a 1-0 lead in the first period. The Heat struck back three times in the second frame. Brad Malone pulled the Monsters within one with his first marker of the season just 58 seconds into the third period.
Yet, the Heat scored twice late to seal the victory. Sami Aittokallio stopped only 20 shots in the loss. Lerg was named the third star of the game.
Kingston scores four in the opening period, tops Ottawa 7-4. Joseph Blandisi assisted on a first period goal for the 67's late in period. Ryan Van Stralen had two tallies for Ottawa. For the Frontenacs, Lawson Crouse and Sam Bennett each scored twice for the victors.
Guelph hammers Owen Sound 7-1. The Storm received goals from seven different skaters. Chris Bigras was minus two for the Attack. In a penalty filled game, Owen Sound was awarded 11 power play chances, but could only score once.
WHLBrandon edges Vancouver 4-3. Mason Geertsen returned to the lineup and was involved in a fight in the second period. John Quenneville and Richard Nejezchleb had the goals for the triumphant Wheat Kings.
