Going Camping

USA Hockey held an evaluation camp for players last week, in Lake Placid, NY, vying for coveted positions for the US squad that will head to Russia in December for the 2013 World Junior Championship. While there were not any Avs prospects attending the camp for Team USA, as part of the camp, the Americans faced squads of junior aged players from both Sweden and Finland.

Avs 2011 fourth round selection, Joachim Nermark, was part of the Swedish club that took part of the tournament. In three games, he compiled one goal and two assists. While Nermark will continue to craft his game with Linköping (Elitserien) this fall, it's likely Avs fans will get a good look at the young Swede in the WJC later this year.

One to Watch

Guy Flaming, from The Pipeline Show, featured Avs prospect Mike Connolly in a blog piece on Tuesday. I'm in agreement with Flaming that the Avs farm system is a bit on the underrated side and Connolly is one of the more ingriguing prospects within the organization.
