The Colorado Avalanche announced on Tuesday that they have signed forward, Mitchell Heard, to a three-year entry level contract. Heard, 20, was the Avs first selection (2nd round, 41st overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He had 29 goals and 28 assists for the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) this past season; which was sixth best on the club.
Heard will attend his first training camp with the Avalanche this fall and is eligible to begin his professional career with the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL) in October.
