The Avalanche reassigned defenseman Tyson Barrie to the Lake Erie Monsters on Tuesday. In 10 games with the Colorado Avalanche, Barrie did not record a point and was minus two. He has 30 points in 47 games for the Monsters, who have two games left in the season.
With two national championships under his belt and his collegiate career now complete, it was only a matter of time before the Avs signed Boston College forward Paul Carey. According to his teammate, Barry Almeida via Twitter, Carey has signed an entry-level contract with the Avalanche. Should this be the case, it would be a two-year contract per league rules. Carey produced 18 goals and 12 assists for the Eagles in 44 games; including three goals in the Frozen Four.
Kent Patterson, who ended his college career on loss to Boston College in the Frozen Four, was named to the All-American West Second Team late last week. As the full time starter for the Gophers this season, Patterson posted a 28-14-1 record, with a goals against average of 2.32 and save perentage of 0.907.
