Lake Erie earns a 3-2 shoot-out win over Charlotte. The Monsters have won two of their last three games. David van der Gulik scored his seventh goal of the season in the first period, which tied the game at one. The teams were scoreless in the second frame.
In the third period, Luke Walker (9) put the Monsters up 2-1. The Checkers would tie the game with 1:37 remaining in regulation. The teams combined to go 0-9 on the power play. Lake Erie won the shoot-out 2-0 on goals by Mike Connolly and Patrick Rissmiller.
Gerald Coleman stopped a combined 20 shots in regulation and in overtime. He was named the second star of the game. Connolly and van der Gulik were the first and third stars of the game respectively. The two teams will face each other again on Sunday.
Niagara hammers Belleville 10-3. The IceDogs scored five times in the second period. Stephen Silas finished the evening with a minus two rating. Niagara scored twice on four power play opportunities. For Belleville, they drop to 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Plymouth blanks Windsor 2-0. The Whalers had a sizeable shot advantage 49-35. Garrett Meurs was penalized for checking-to-the-head in the second period and goaltender interference in the final frame. Plymouth extends their winning streak to six games.
Sudbury skates past Peterborough 4-1. Michael Sgarbossa assisted on goals scored in the first and third periods. He closed out the game's scoring with his 44th tally of the season. Sgarbossa earned second star of the game honors. The Wolves have won back-to-back games.
Val-d'Or trips up Rimouski in overtime 4-3. Gabriel Beaupre was credited with two hits in the game and had a minus two rating. He assisted on a second period power play goal for the Foreurs. Beaupre was penalized for holding in the third period. Val-d'Or has won six games in a row.
Portland dumps Seattle 7-3. Troy Rutkowski did not have a point in the game and had a plus one rating. It was a rough evening for Calvin Pickard, who gave up all seven Winterhawks goals on 47 shots. Seattle has now dropped four games in a row. The team trails eighth place Everett by three points.
ECAC Tournament -- Game 2
Princeton edges Yale in overtime 5-4. Three of the goals scored by the Bulldogs came on the power play. Gus Young fired two shots on net and was even for the game. The winning tally for Princeton was scored 33 seconds into the overtime session. The deciding game three of the series is set for Sunday.
Boston College shuts down Vermont 4-0. The Eagles win the Hockey East regular season title. Paul Carrey assisted on a third period goal scored by BC. He had four shots in the game. Boston College will face Massachusetts in the opening round of the Hockey East Tournament.
Minnesota trims Wisconsin 2-1. Minnesota will host Alaska-Anchorage in the first round of the WCHA Tournament. The Badgers were held to 18 shots in the game. Nate Condon had two shots for the Gophers. Kent Patterson earned his 24th win of the season with 17 saves.

CSKA trips up SKA 3-2 in overtime. Denis Parshin assisted on a power play goal that tied the game at two in the second period. His first goal of the series was the game winner in overtime. The score came at the 5:49 mark of the overtime session. Parshin had seven shots in the game.
Växjö Lakers HC blanks AIK 2-0. Jonas Holos was credited with an assist on the opening tally for the Lakers in the second period. He had one shot in the game to go along with his plus one rating.
