AHL

The Monsters winless skid continues as they fall 4-3 to the Texas Stars in a shoot-out. Despite not having a win in their last six games, the Monsters only trail eighth place San Antonio by one point. However, games in hand for other clubs surrounding the Monsters in the standings poses a significant threat to their playoff hopes.

Cameron Gaunce (5) had the only score for both clubs in the first period. The Stars grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second frame. Greg Mauldin's 16th goal of the season tied the game at two early in the third period. Texas regained the lead later in the period before Mike Connolly (11) notched his first tally since joining the Monsters, with 1:59 remaining in regulation. He was named the third star of the game.

Cedrick Desjardins stopped 28 shots for the Monsters. Lake Erie lost the shoot-out 3-2. The Monsters have seven games remaining and will face the Houston Aeros on Thursday evening.
