He would go on to score twice in the second period and complete the hat trick late in the third period. He was named the first star of the game. WHL

Portland hammers Seattle 8-2 in the regular season finale for both clubs. Troy Rutkowski notched his 13th goal of the season on a power play in the first period. He also assisted on a second period goal. Rutkowski finishes with 45 points in 72 games; just two shy of his total from last season. Portland will begin the playoffs against Kelowna.

For Seattle, there will be no playoffs. The loss gave the Everett Silvertips the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. In what was likely his final start for Seattle, Calvin Pickard made 38 saves for the Thunderbirds. Pickard finishes the regular season with 25 wins. His goals against average was 3.59 and save percentage 0.906 (11th in the league).

Pickard may join the Lake Erie Monsters for the remainder of their season and is likely to be one of the club's two featured netminders for the 2012-2013 campaign.
