Lake Erie holds off Rockford 4-3. The Monsters have won three of their last four games. The game was scoreless going into the second period until Mark Olver (2) scored at the 1:31 mark of the second frame. Justin Mercier would give the Monsters a 2-0 lead later in the same period.
The Monsters took a 3-1 lead in the third period on the strength of a power play goal by Evan Brophey (13). Brad Malone would give Lake Erie a 4-1 lead past the midway point of the frame. The IceHogs scored two goals in the last two minutes of regulation, but were unable to come up with the tying score.
Gerald Coleman stopped 40 shots in the game and has won five of eight starts with the Monsters. He was named the first star of the game. Malone with a goal and an assist earned third star of the game honors. The Monsters conclude their four game road trip on Friday in Peoria.
Acadie-Bathurst edges Shawinigan in a shoot-out 5-4. The Cataractes dominated in shots 50-26 and finished 2-8 on the power play. Dillon Donnelly was credited with one hit in the game and was minus one on the night. Acadie-Bathurst won the shoot-out 2-1.
Seattle blanks Kelowna 2-0. Calvin Pickard stopped all 32 shots he faced. Both goals scored by the Thunderbirds came on the power play. Pickard won his 19th game of the season and was named the first star of the game.
