Lake Erie edges Syracuse 2-1. The Monsters were out shot by a 2-to-1 margin. Gerald Coleman turned in an excellent performance with 39 saves. He was named the first star of the game. Coleman has won seven of 10 starts since joining the Monsters. He has a goals against average of 2.54 and save percentage of 0.928.
Both of the Lake Erie goals came in the second period. Ryan Stoa opened the scoring early in the period with his 10th goal of the season. Past the midway point of the period, Patrick Rissmiller, would be credited with his sixth goal of the season and the game winning tally for the Monsters. He was named the second star of the game. Greg Mauldin, who assisted on Rissmiller's score, earned third star of the game honors.
The Monsters have now won five of their last six games and sit two games above 0.500. Lake Erie will host Texas on Wednesday.
Ottawa throttles Belleville 9-0. The 67's scored four times in both the first and second periods and scored twice on the power play. Stephen Silas was minus three for the Bulls. Belleville has dropped six of their last 10 games.
Plymouth trims Saginaw in a shoot-out 5-4. Shots in the game favored the Spirit 57-44. Garrett Meurs was plus one for the game. He found himself in the penalty box for roughing in the second period and slashing in the third. The Whalers won the shoot-out 2-1.
Shawinigan upends Chicoutimi 4-1. The Cataractes scored twice on four power play opportunities. Defenseman Dillon Donnelly had a minus one rating for Shawinigan. The Cataractes have been victorious in six of their last 10 games.
