Hishon on the Mend

He hasn't played since suffering a concussion in the 2011 Memorial Cup, but Avs former 2010 first round draft pick, Joey Hishon, has reportedly been cleared to practice with the Lake Erie Monsters.

Monster Earns Weekly Honor

Lake Erie Monsters forward, David van der Gulik, was named AHL Player of the Week earlier on Wednesday. He had three goals and four assists for the Monsters to earn the award.

Donnelly Heads to Quebec

On Saturday, Avs 2011 seventh round pick, Dillon Donnelly, was moved from the Shawinigan Cataractes to the Quebec Remparts as the trading season opened in the QMJHL. Donnelly has been limited to just 11 games this season due to injury.

Moving on Up

Gabriel Beaupre was recalled to the Lake Erie Monsters on Wednesday. The defenseman had three goals and five assists in 28 games for the Denver Cutthroats.

The 2013 World Junior Championship is underway in Ufa, Russia, but Avalanche fans will not have any prospects to follow in the tournament. Colin Smith from the Kamloops Blazers would have had the best opportunity, but did not receive a coveted invite to the Canadian selection camp. Smith currently leads the WHL in scoring with 62 points.
