The Lake Erie Monsters fall in their preseason finale to Grand Rapids 4-2. After a scoreless first period, the Grand Rapids Griffins opened the scoring in the second frame. Paul Carey and Tyson Barrie had the goals for the Monsters. Calvin Pickard, who started the game, allowed one goal on 22 shots. Kent Patterson, who replaced Pickard half-way through the game, gave up two Grand Rapids goals on 17 shots. The Monsters open the regular season at home on Friday against Oklahoma City.
