Lake Erie blanks Texas 4-0, earns third straight win. Calvin Pickard stopped 25 shots and has not allowed a goal in both of his victories on the season. Michael Sgarbossa (1) opened the scoring for the Monsters early in the second period. Bill Thomas (2) scored less than two minutes later to add to the Monsters lead.
A power play goal by Brad Malone (1) extended the lead past the mid-way point of the second period. Bryan Lerg capped off the scoring for the Monsters with his first goal of the season in the final frame. Mark Olver added two helpers and was named the third star of the game. Pickard and Sgarbossa were named first and second stars of the game respectively.
The Monsters will face Oklahoma City on Tuesday evening.
Plymouth doubles up Oshawa 4-2. The Whalers scored twice in the final period. Garrett Meurs was called for a roughing minor in the second frame. Both goals for the Generals came on the power play; whereas Plymouth was 0-5. The Whalers have won three of their last four games.
