Toronto scores five times in the first period, dumps Lake Erie 6-2. The Marlies scored two short-handed goals in the game. Both of the Monsters goals came in the first period by Brad Malone (6) and Adrian Foster (3). Gerald Coleman was yanked near the end of the first period after giving up four goals on seven shots.
OHL
Niagara hammers Belleville 6-0. The Bulls were held to 26 shots on net. Stephen Silas finished the game with an even rating. Belleville has now dropped six games in a row.
Plymouth skates past Barrie 4-1. The Whalers scored three times in the opening frame. Garrett Meurs was penalized for checking from behind in the second period. The Colts were 1-8 with the man advantage. Plymouth has won back-to-back games.
QMJHL
Drummondville upends Val-d'Or 3-1. Each club was 0-2 on the power play. Gabriel Beaupre was minus one for the Foreurs and was involved in a fight in the first period. Val-d'Or is 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Europe
KHL
Lev edges CSKA 3-2. Denis Parshin was penalized for slashing in the third period. He had four shots in the same period and notched his 10th goal of the season.
Elitserien
Växjö Lakers fall to Frölunda HC in overtime 3-2. Jonas Holos had the primary assist on a first period goal for the Lakers. He finished with one shot in the game.
