Western Conference Semifinals -- Best of 7 -- Game 1

Owen Sound opens the series with a 4-3 overtime win over Plymouth. The Attack dominated in shots 58-37. Owen Sound was also 0-4 on the power play. Joey Hishon was plus two for the contest and did assist on the game opening goal scored in the first period. Game two is set for Saturday.


Western Conference Semifinals -- Best of 7 -- Game 1

Kelowna skates past Portland 5-1; takes first game of the series. Defenseman Troy Rutkowski had the lone goal for the Winterhawks. It was his second goal of the playoffs. He was minus two for the game. Tyson Barrie had two asssits for the winning side. He was plus one for the contest and was penalized for hooking in the first period. The two teams will have two days off before the series resumes on Sunday.


Frozen Four Semifinal

Michigan blanks North Dakota 2-0; advances to Saturday's championship game. The Fighting Sioux doubled up the Wolverines in shots 40-20. Goaltender, Shawn Hunwick, was the star for the Wolverines in the victory. Luke Moffatt had a couple of solid scoring chances for Michigan and finished with three shots on net.

Brad Malone fired five shots on goal in his last collegiate game and was minus two for the contest. He finished with his best statistical season with 40 points in 43 games. Malone is eligible to join the Lake Erie Monsters for the rest of their season on an amateur tryout.
