North Division Semifinals -- Best of 7 -- 3-2 Lake Erie
Manitoba skates past Lake Erie 3-1; forces a series deciding game seven. The Monsters had a 29-20 shot advantage over the Moose, but Manitoba was finally able to solve the Monsters penalty kill. However, it was the Monsters power play that would strike first as Julian Talbot recorded his first goal of the playoffs at the 2:10 mark of the second period.
Yet, it was all Manitoba from that point. Three unanswered goals, including an empty netter, did in the inept Monsters offensive attack. John Grahame stopped 17 shots in the contest. Justin Mercier led the club in shots with six.
Tyson Barrie, was reported to be joining the Lake Erie Monsters after his Kelowna Rockets were eliminated from the playoffs, has instead returned home to Victoria, BC. He's rumored to be recovering from a hip injury he played through in the WHL playoffs. Game seven is set for Tuesday night in Cleveland.
Western Conference Finals -- Best of 7 -- 1-0 Spokane
Portland trips up Spokane 2-1; ties the series at one game a piece. The Winterhawks edged the Chiefs in shots 36-35. Troy Rutkowski was minus one for the game. He has yet to record a point in the first two games of the series. The series will now shift to Spokane for the next two games.
