Lake Erie blanks Toronto 2-0. The Monsters end their brief two game losing streak. They had a slight 24-21 shot advantage over the Marlies. Ben Walter (22) scored for the Monsters on the power play in the first period. He was named the first star of the game. The other Monsters goal, scored by David Van der Gulik (14), was an empty netter. He also led the team in shots on goal with five.
Jason Bacashihua, who was named the second star of the game, earned his 21st win of the season. The Monsters can earn a playoff spot with another win or a regulation loss by the Abbotsford Heat.
Western Conference Quarterfinals -- Best of 7 -- tied at two
Owen Sound hammers London 6-0; takes 3-2 lead in the series. The Attack dominated in shots 44-14. Joey Hishon assisted on two second period goals and was plus one for the game. He also spent a little time in the penalty box for roughing. Owen Sound will try to close out the series in London on Sunday.
Eastern Conference Quarterfinals -- Best of 7 -- tied at two
Saskatoon throttles Prince Albert 8-0. The Blades take a 3-2 series lead. Saskatoon controlled the game throughout; out shooting the Raiders 54-30. Stefan Elliott notched his second goal of the playoffs on a power play late in regulation. He also assisted on a power play tally in the second period. Elliott was plus one for the contest. The Blades will attempt to close out the Raiders on Sunday evening.
