Rockford edges Lake Erie 3-2. The Monsters winning streak ends at eight. Lake Erie was out shot 37-25. Julian Talbot opened the scoring for the Monsters in the first period with his 12th goal of the season. Lake Erie took a one goal lead in the second period on Matt Ford's 22nd tally of the season. However, the Monsters were unable to recover from two unanswered goals by the IceHogs.

Jason Bacashihua stopped 34 shots in the loss. Talbot was name the third star of the game. Despite the loss, the Monsters are still in good shape to make the playoffs if they win two of their last six games. Lake Erie will host Hamilton on Friday.

Western Conference Quarterfinals -- Best of 7 -- 2-1 Plymouth

Plymouth trips up Kitchener in overtime 6-5. The Whalers have a 3-1 lead in the series. Brandon Maxwell made 37 saves for the Rangers. His team was 0-4 on the power play. The game winning goal for the Whalers came on the man advantage. Kitchener will try to stave off elimination on Friday.


Eastern Conference Quarterfinals -- Best of 7 -- 2-0 Saskatoon

Prince Albert doubles up Saskatoon 6-3. The Raiders cut the Blades series lead to 2-1. Neither club was able to score on the power play and the shots favored Saskatoon 50-40. Stefan Elliott was minus two for the contest and assisted on a second period goal. Game four of the series is set for Thursday.

Western Conference Quarterfinals -- Best of 7 -- 3-0 Kelowna

Kelowna skates past Prince George 4-2; the Rockets sweep the series. Each club recorded a power play goal. Tyson Barrie, who finished the series with five points, had a helper on a third period goal for the Rockets. He was penalized for tripping early in the second period and was even for the game.

Western Conference Quarterfinals -- Best of 7 -- 2-0 Portland

Portland takes a 3-0 series lead; beats Everett 5-4. The Winterhawks had a 50-38 shot advantage. Defenseman Troy Rutkowski was plus three for the contest. He was credited with an assist on a second period goal and was penalized for slashing late in regulation. Portland will try to close out the series on Thursday.
