Lake Erie edges Peoria 4-3. The Monsters have won five games in a row. The teams exchanged goals in the first period with Julian Talbot notching his 11th of the season. Matt Ford (21) and David Van der Gulik (12) gave the Monsters a 3-1 lead at the end of two periods.
The eventual game winner came off the stick of Greg Mauldin (15) at the 11:40 mark of the third period. John Grahame stopped 30 shots in the game. Mauldin and Talbot were named the first and third stars of the game. Lake Erie has pulled into a first place tie in the North Division with the Manitoba Moose.
Belleville holds off Brampton 3-2. The Bulls clinch the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and will face Mississauga in the opening round. Brampton dominated in shots 44-16. Stephen Silas assisted on a first period power play goal. He finishes the regular season with two goals and 34 assists in 68 games.
Spokane doubles up Portland 6-3. The Chiefs had a 45-29 shot advantage. Troy Rutkowski was minus one for the game. He received a double minor for high-sticking in the second period and a delay of game infraction also in the same frame. He finishes the regular season with 10 goals and 37 assists in 72 games. Portland will face Everett in the first round of the playoffs.
