Manitoba doubles up Lake Erie 4-2. The loss ends a five game winning streak for the Monsters. Lake Erie was out shot 37-29. The Monsters received third period goals from Ben Walter (18) and Luke Walker (9). The club was 1-5 on the power play.
Jason Bacashihua was pulled midway through the second period after giving up four goals on 23 shots. Trevor Cann stopped all 14 shots he faced. The Monsters will face defending champion Hershey on Thursday.
Belleville edges Sault Ste. Marie in a shoot-out 4-3. Stephen Silas was penalized for tripping in the second period. He did not factor in the game offensively, nor did he participate in the the shoot-out. The win ends a four game losing streak for the Bulls.
Saskatoon upends Kootenay 5-3. Stefan Elliott assisted on a second period power play goal for the Blades. He was even for the game. Three of Saskatoon's goals came on the man advantage. The Blades have won 46 of the 59 games they have played this season.
Portland skates past Chilliwack 6-3. The Winterhawks fired 61 shots on the Bruins net. Troy Rutkowski was not an offensive factor for Portland and was even for the game. The Winterhawks have the best record in the Western Conference at 39-16-0-3.
Kelowna tops Vancouver 6-3. Tyson Barrie had a quiet game offensively for the Rockets, but finished with a plus one rating. Kelowna scored three times on the power play. The Rockets improve to 33-24-0-1.
Northeastern stuns Boston College 2-1. The Eagles were ranked number one in the country headed into the weekend series. Each club was 0-2 on the power play. Paul Carey fired three shots on net and was plus one for the contest.
Boston University blanks Providence 1-0. Kieran Millan stopped all 32 shots he faced to earn his 13th win of the season. The lone BU tally came on the power play; the Terriers ended up with eight chances. Overall, Boston University improves to 16-9-7.
North Dakota trims St. Cloud State 3-2. North Dakota maintains a two point lead over Denver for the regular season conference crown. Brad Malone registered three shots on net and was even for the game. He was penalized for roughing in the second period.
Minnesota and Wisconsin skate to a 3-3 tie. Nate Condon notched his eighth goal of the season on a power play in the first period. He finished with three shots on net. Kent Patterson stopped 32 shots and has five ties on the season.
