Friday Scoreboard


Lake Erie skates past Manitoba 5-1. The win puts the Monsters in first place of the North Division by two points over the Moose, but Manitoba does have four games in hand. The Monsters received first period goals from Ben Walter (17) and Justin Mercier (9). Julian Talbot (7) and Joel Chouinard (6) gave the Monsters a 4-1 lead entering the final frame.

Matt Ford completed the scoring with his 16th goal of the season on a power play. Jason Bacashihua started the game and stopped 29 shots and has 13 wins on the season. Bacashihua and Greg Mauldin were named the second and third stars of the game. Lake Erie was 2-5 on the power play and killed off all four Moose chances. The two teams will face each other again on Saturday evening.

Notes: Goaltender John Grahame and forward Ryan Stoa have been recalled to the Colorado Avalanche. Trevor Cann has been recalled to the Monsters from the Tulsa Oilers (CHL).

Mississauga edges Kitchener in a shoot-out 5-4. Brandon Maxwell made 36 saves during regulation and overtime. He allowed one goal in the shoot-out, but his team mates were unable to convert on any of their chances. The Rangers are 6-1-0-3 in their last 10 games.

Belleville falls to Ottawa 5-1. The Bulls have lost four games in a row. Defenseman Stephan Silas was minus three for the game. The 67's had a 34-31 shot advantage.


Spokane trips up Kelowna 3-2. The Rockets were out shot 39-24. Tyson Barrie did not factor in the scoring and was even for the game. Kelowna was 0-2 on the power play. The Rockets are 5-4-0-1 in their last 10 games.

Vancouver dumps Seattle 6-2. The Thunderbirds are 2-8 in their last 10 games. Neither club was able to convert on the power play. Calvin Pickard was in net for all six Giants goals. He faced 36 shots and has now suffered 26 shots in regulation this season. 



Michigan doubles up Western Michigan 6-3. Luke Moffatt skated on the fourth line for the Wolverines, but he was held without a shot on goal and was minus one for the game. The Broncos were 0-3 on the power play and Michigan never had a power play opportunity in the game. The Wolverines have reached the 20 win mark on the season.

Hockey East

Northeastern and Boston College skate to a 7-7 tie. Each club scored three times on the power play. Paul Carey did not record a point in the game and was held without a shot on goal. He was penalized for interference early in the second period. The Eagles improve to 22-6-1.

Boston University trims Providence 2-1. Kieran Millan stopped 36 of 37 shots faced and was named the first star of the game. The win improves the Terriers to 15-9-7.


North Dakota and St. Cloud State skate to a 3-3 draw. The Sioux were 0-5 on the power play. Brad Malone fired four shots on net and assisted on the game tying goal scored in the latter stages of the third period. He was hit with a hooking penalty early in the game and finished with a plus one rating. North Dakota currently has a two point lead over Denver for the top spot in the conference.

Minnesota topples Wisconsin 5-2. The Gophers move back above the 0.500 mark with the victory. The Badgers had the edge in shots 38-32. Nate Condon fired two shots on net and was plus one for the game. Kent Patterson made 36 saves to earn his 11th win of the season.



Traktor upends CSKA 4-2. Denis Parshin was held to a single shot on net. CSKA will conclude their regular season on Monday against Salavat Yulaev. CSKA will not qualify for the playoffs.
