Friday Scoreboard


Plymouth scores four times in the first period, dumps Saginaw 7-3. Each club scored once on the power play. Garrett Meurs had a team high four assists in the game and finished with a plus four rating. He was named the third star of the game. The Whalers have won back-to-back games.

Sudbury edges Belleville in overtime 4-3. The Wolves had a 47-30 shot advantage. Defenseman Stephen Silas was minus two for the Bulls. He was penalized for hooking late in the second period. Neither club scored on the power play. Belleville is 5-4-1 in their last 10 games.


Victoriaville dumps Shawinigan 5-1. The Cataractes winning streak ends at six games. The Tigres controlled the game with a 46-25 shot advantage. Dillon Donnelly was minus one on the night. He was penalized for roughing in the first period and slashing in the third.

Rouyn-Noranda trims Val-d'Or 6-5. Each club scored twice on the power play. Gabriel Beaupre had the secondary assist on the opening tally for the Foreurs. Goaltender interference and spearing penalties earned Beaupre time in the penalty box. Val-d'Or has dropped back-to-back games.


Saskatoon gets back on track, hammers Prince Albert 9-4. The Blades scored twice on the power play. Duncan Siemens assisted on one of the four third period tallies for Saskatoon. He was plus two for the contest. Siemens was called for roughing in the second period.

Portland upends Victoria 7-6. The Winterhawks fired 54 shots on net. Troy Rutkowski finished the game with a plus one rating. Two of the Portland goals came on 11 power play chances. The club has won seven of their last 10 games.

Seattle blanks Moose Jaw 2-0. The Warriors were 0-7 on the power play. Calvin Pickard was the first star of the game and stopped all 40 shots he faced. Pickard picked up his 15th win of the season.


Mariucci Classic (Mariucci Arena -- Minneapolis, MN)

Minnesota skates past Niagara 5-1. The Gophers dominated in shots 43-21. Nate Condon skated on the second line for Minnesota and was credited with two shots on goal. He was minus one on the evening. Kent Patterson stopped 20 shots and now has 15 wins on the season.

Great Lakes Invitational (Joe Louis Arena -- Detroit, MI)

Boston College nips Michigan Tech 2-1. Each club had 25 shots on goal. Two of the BC shots belonged to Paul Carey. He was plus one for the game. The Eagles improved to 13-7-0 with the victory. The lone Huskies tally was short-handed.

Michigan State falls to Michigan in overtime 3-2; Michigan wins GLI. The Wolverines had 48 shots in the game, including 24 in the third period. Five of the Michigan shots belonged to Luke Moffatt. Moffatt did not score, but did assist on two tallies for the Wolverines, including the game winner. Michigan improves to 11-8-3.



Brynäs IF tops Växjö Lakers HC 2-1. The game winner was scored with 1:19 remaining in the second period. Jonas Holos was credited with a single shot on net in 24:08 of ice time. He was even for the game.
