The Monsters brief winning streak ends with a thud; team hammered 7-0 by Syracuse. Ugly stat of the night for the Monsters:  0-9 on the power play. The Monsters were also out shot on home ice 33-25. Speaking of home ice, the Monsters have opened the season 0-4 at Quicken Loans Arena.

Goaltender Tevor Cann was pulled in the third period after he gave up six of the seven goals. Brad Malone led the team in shots with four. The Monsters will begin a two-game set with the Toronto Marlies on Friday night.

Belleville skates past Barrie 5-3. Stephen Silas was called for slashing early in the third period. He was plus one for the contest. Belleville was strong on the penalty kill as the Colts finished 0-5 on the evening. The Bulls improve to 7-5.

Plymouth scores twice in the second period, edges Saginaw 3-2. Garrett Meurs assisted on goals scored in the first and second periods. He has 10 points in 13 games for the Whalers. Plymouth was 2-3 on the power play.

Medicine Hat doubles up Portland 4-2. The Winterhawks were 0-5 on the power play. Troy Rutkowski was credited with a first period assist. He was minus one on the night. Portland suffers their sixth loss in regulation this season.

Saskatoon holds off Regina 5-3. Duncan Siemens notched his third goal of the season in a three goal period for the Blades. He was penalized for cross-checking in the third period. However, neither club was able to convert on the power play. Saskatoon impoves to 8-4-0-1.
