Unable to make the Avs opening night roster and scratched in the first two games for the Lake Erie Monsters this season, defenseman Jonas Holos is heading back to Europe.
Holos was originally drafted by the Avalanche in June of 2008. He spent two seasons with Farjestads BK (Elitserien) before signing an entry level contract with the Avs. He split time with both the Lake Erie Monsters and Colorado Avalanche in the 2010-11 season. Holos had six assists in 17 games with the Monsters and six assists in 39 games with Colorado.
Holos never seemed to be fully comfortable playing in North America and with other younger defensemen in the pipeline, Holos may have felt he wasn't as highly valued to the organization.
Holos is in the final year of his ELC. He is hopeful to hook up with a team in Sweden.
