Lake Erie tops Texas 3-1. The Monsters are 1-1 into their seven game road trip and are now a game within the 0.500 mark. Lake Erie held the Texas Stars to 19 shots on goal. John Grahame stopped 18 of those shots and was credited with his fifth win of the season.
Scoring wise, Ben Walter opened the scoring in the second period with his 10th tally of the season. Third period goals from Patrick Rissmiller (8) and Ryan Stoa (13) helped to seal the victory. Stoa, who assisted on the other two Monsters goals, was named the second star of the game. Grahame earned first star of the game honors.
Former Colorado College Tiger, Richard Bachman, started the game in net for the Stars. The Monsters seven game road swing continues in Oklahoma City on Sunday.
Missouri edges Tulsa 3-2. Trevor Cann stopped 34 shots in the loss. His record drops to 4-2. Tom Fritsche fired a single shot on net, but earned third star of the game honors. The Oilers fall back a game under 0.500.
Owen Sound holds off Belleville 2-1. Joey Hishon was held off the score sheet for Owen Sound. He was even for the game. Stephen Silas had a quiet offensive game for the Bulls. Owen Sound over takes Kitchener for the Midwest Division lead with 52 points. However, the Rangers have two games in hand.
Portland trips up Seattle 2-1. The Winterhawks scored twice on Calvin Pickard on 44 shots. Despite the loss, Pickard was named the third star of the game. Troy Rutkowski was plus one for the Winterhawks as they improved to 26-12-0-3.
Kelowna hammers Kamloops 8-1. Tyson Barrie played in his first game since returning from the World Junior Championship. Barrie quickly got back into the groove with a goal and two assists. He was plus two for the Rockets and was hit with a delay of game penalty in the first period. Barrie was named the second star of the game.
Michigan blanks Michigan State 4-0; the clubs split the weekend series. Michigian was 2-5 on the power play. Luke Moffatt fired four shots on the Spartans net, but came up empty handed. The win improves the Wolverines to 13-6-4.
Boston College skates past Providence 3-1. The clubs had 34 shots a piece. Paul Carey only had one of those shots. He finished even for the game. Neither team was able to score on the power play, which combined for 15 chances. BC now sits at 15-5-0 on the season.
North Dakota trims Robert Morris 2-1; sweeps the two game set. Brad Malone registered three shots on goal for the Sioux. He was penalized for tripping in the first period. Malone continues to center the top line for North Dakota as his team improves to 16-5-2.
Torpedo doubles up CSKA 4-2. Denis Parshin notched his 13th goal of the season for CSKA. The tally came late in the second period. Parshin was also penalized for diving in the first period. He finished the game with two shots on net.
