Lake Erie drops their second straight home game, loses 3-1 to Peoria. The good news for the Monsters was the return of defenseman Joel Chouinard to the lineup; after a long absence due to an upper body injury. The bad news was the struggles of the power play. Their lone tally on the afternoon did come on the man advantage, but Lake Erie was unable to capitalize on a prime 5-on-3 opportunity.
Justin Mercier opened the game's scoring with his seventh tally of the season. Jason Bacashihua stopped 26 shots in the loss. Forward Greg Mauldin returned to the lineup after missing the last few games due to injury. Lake Erie will play host to Toronto on Wednesday.
Portland trips up Spokane in overtime 6-5. The Winterhawks were out shot 47-37. Troy Rutkowski finished plus two for the game and was hit with an elbowing penalty very early in the first period. Only one of the eleven goals scored in the game came on the power play. Portland improves to 32-14-0-3.
Kelowna edges Tri-City 4-3. The Rockets only had 15 shots in the game. Tyson Barrie was penalized for hooking late in the first period, but the penalty was not costly to his club. He was named the third star of the game. Kelowna has won four games in a row and six of their last seven.
