Lake Erie trips up Rochester 2-1 in overtime. The Monsters tied a franchise record with their fifth straight victory. Lake Erie out shot Rochester 41-21. Yet, the Monsters trailed the Americans 1-0 heading into the third period. Lake Erie was unable to score on four power play opportunities. David Van der Gulik (4) finally got a shot past Amerks goaltender Jacob Markstrom to tie the game at one.
In the overtime session, the Monsters had a single shot on net and that was off the stick of forward Mark Olver (17). Olver fired a shot above the shoulder of Markstrom to give the Monsters the victory. Olver has five game winning goals this season. John Grahame earned his 10th win of the season. Olver, Grahame, and Van der Gulik were named the three stars of the game.
Recently reassigned forward, TJ Galiardi, assisted on the game tying goal scored by Van der Gulik.
Owen Sound holds off Barrie 5-4. Joey Hishon had a quiet game for the Attack. He was penalized for elbowing in the first period and cross-checking in the third. Owen Sound has a four point lead over Kitchener for the Midwest Division lead, but the Rangers do have three games in hand.
CSKA edges Vityaz 5-4. Denis Parshin did not factor in an any of the goals scored by CSKA. The diminutive forward fired three shots on net in 21:27 of ice time.
