The life of an AHL fan is never easy and it's about to become more difficult for Lake Erie Monsters fans. Colorado lost forwards David Van der Gulik (torn MCL) and TJ Galiardi (broken wrist) in a 4-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. Going into the game it was announced that defenseman Kyle Quincey is sidelined with a concussion.
The Avs are currently skating with only six healthy defensemen. As of right now, four defensemen for Lake Erie are playing under NHL contracts: Joel Chouinard, Raymond Macias, Kevin Montgomery and Cameron Gaunce. It's possible one of these defenders could be recalled if one of the injured Avalanche defensemen is unable to go by Friday.
Up front, it's likely the Avs will recall a couple of forwards between now and Friday. The Monsters have a game on Wednesday morning, so its unlikely anything will be announced until later Wednesday afternoon.
