Friday Scoreboard


Manitoba doubles up Lake Erie 6-3.  The Monsters started off well, building up a 3-1 lead in the second period.  It all fell down hill as the Monsters gave up five unanswered goals.  Lake Erie received goals from Mark Olver (3), Zach Cohen (1), and Greg Mauldin (4).  

Struggles on the power play continue as the Monsters went 0-4 on the night.  Lake Erie still has only scored one power play goal this season.  Jason Bacashihua gave up all six goals on 21 shots.  The young defense in front had its struggles.  It was the first game this season in which four rookie defensemen suited up for the Monsters.  Joel Chouinard made his season debut (after missing time due to injury) and was credited with an assist.

Colorado trips up Tulsa 2-1.  Harrison Reed had the primary assist on the lone Oilers tally.  He launched two shots on goal and was penalized for cross-checking in the second period.  Tom Fritsche finished minus one in his season debut.


Saginaw upends Owen Sound 5-2.  Joey Hishon had both goals for the Attack; one was short-handed.  Hishon has nine goals and 15 points in just five games this season.  Owen Sound launched 54 shots on net.  Hishon received a 10-minute misconduct penalty late in the third period.  He was named the second star of the game.

Oshawa thumps Belleville 6-1.  Stephen Silas finished the game with an even rating.  Oshawa out shot Belleville 43-21.  The Bulls fall to 4-11.


Kelowna falls to Portland 4-2.  Troy Rutkowski was held without a point.  In a penalty filled contest, he received a roughing minor in the second period.  Tyson Barrie was minus two for the game.  He was assessed with a fighting major in the second frame.

Prince George blanks Seattle 2-0.  Calvin Pickard stopped 30 shots in the loss.  His record falls to 5-3-1-2.  The Thunderbirds trail US Division leading Portland by 10 points.


Hockey East

Boston College edges Merrimack 3-2.  Paul Carey notched his first goal of the season.  He was penalized for hooking in the first period; which led to the first Merrimack tally.  Carey was named the third star of the game.

Boston University topples UMass-Lowell 5-1.  Kieran Millan improved to 4-0-1.  He made 27 saves in the victory and was named the first star of the game.  Both clubs were a combined 0-9 on the power play.


North Dakota trims Denver 4-3.  Brad Malone had a quiet offensive game for the Fighting Sioux and fired just one shot on goal.  North Dakota had a 30-17 shot advantage over the Pioneers.  

Minnesota tops Colorado College 4-1.  Nate Condon centered the second line for the Gophers and launched one shot on goal.  He was even for the game.  Kent Patterson improved to 3-0-0.  He stopped 27 Tigers shots and was named the second star of the game.

Ivy Shootout (New Haven, CT)

Yale drops Brown 7-4.  Gus Young registered two shots on goal in his collegiate debut.  He was plus one for the game.  All four Brown goals were scored with the man advantage.  UPDATE:  Young was injured in the game.  The severity of the injury is unknown.



CSKA skates by Dynamo Msk 3-1.  Denis Parshin recorded his fifth goal of the season.  He scored on his only shot of the game.  Parshin was minus one for the contest.
